Cairns Street

The residents around Cairns Street and the Granby triangle are fighting to hold their community together and stop downgrading plans with initiatives such as holding a monthly street market where money raised is used to help beautify the street.

Hey, I and my lovely wife live in Cairns Street. We could not make the market, but it's great to see it on the web. Really good and positive video, thank you.

If you put something together I will put it up on my website – Pride in Liverpool…see if it helps in anyway. We need to ensure our communities are protected……community spirit needs to be encouraged…

It is a lovely area next to a wonderful park.
They say they're going to pull it down.
    But the possibilities are endless.

The City Council once planned to demolish the likes of Huskisson St and Faulkener Square.

    They never did it though.

Wonderful film – I've written an article in response on our site and wish you all the best. See you at the next market

My mother was born at No58 in 1892. I was shocked to see the condition of some of the tinned up properties, but extreemly encouraged by the spirit of those fighting for the survival of their street.
    Good luck

I was born in 1948 and raised till I was 8 years old at 33 Cairns Street. We emigrated to Canada in 1957 but my heart is still in Liverpool and I have wonderful memories of my childhood at 33 Cairns St. and shopping on Granby Street.
I recall the old lamp lighter, the horse & cart with all it's shining brass delivering coal. The rag & bone man, that gave you a Goldfish, that died an hour later. One cold water tap. It was wonderful, I was such a happy girl and hated coming to Canada.
Hope like Hell you can save it!!
